Former Kofuku station became famous with its catchphrase, “From the country of love to Kofuku.” It was designated as “Lover’s holy land” and is still a very popular tourist attraction. There is Japan’s first conifer garden called “Manabe Conifer Garden” with 7.9 hectare of land. You can taste Obihiro’s gourmet like Butadon on the main streets with a desert like famous Sweets of Obihiro for lunch. In the afternoon, you might want to drive to Tokachi farm to feel the vast plain and the white birch tree avenue which was the location of one of the famous Japanese movie, or visit some viewpoints of Tokachi’s pride that displays the panoramic view of whole Tokachi plains. One of the sweets factories has an observation course where you can observe the factory. After that, you can have time for afternoon tea at the tea room in the factory. The last spot is to relax at the Moor Hot Springs, a Tokachi’s pride.
You can rent a car from Tokachi Obihiro Airport and go around Tokachi. Please take a pamphlet called “kuru kuru Handbook.” It has some coupon books too. When you drive, please do not exceed the speed limit where are only a few cars in Tokachi. Since the roads are raised a bit, you may be able to view the vast plains of Tokachi. But be careful not to look around while you are driving. If you want a parking space, it is convenient to use the underground parking garage at the north exit area of Obihiro JR station. When you have time, we suggest you to visit Midorigaoka Park, or to enjoy “Banei horse and sled races.”
